The successor to the world’s most popular full-frame mirrorless camera has arrived - the Alpha 7 IV. Taking the advanced features introduced by the Alpha 7S III and mastered by the Alpha 1, the Alpha 7 IV combines excellence in imaging quality, powerful movie recording features, intuitive operability design and adds the next generation of live streaming and connectivity to the Alpha lineup.

Receiving feedback from Alpha 7 III users across the world, the Alpha 7 IV has been built with an entirely new image sensor expanded for new stills and movie shooting experiences. The full-frame 33-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor delivers exceptional image resolution with low noise and an enhanced colour science for rich details and accurate skin tones. Additionally, 15 stops of dynamic range are achieved for both stills and movies.

BIONZ XR processor

Employing the same image processor as Alpha 1, the Alpha 7 IV takes full advantage of the BIONZ XR™ image processor. Powerful image processing delivered by the BIONZ XR processor provides astounding performance enhancements in every area of the Alpha 7 IV, with increased AF speeds, faster buffer-clearing for images, recording data-dense video files with 4K 10bit 4:2:2 sampling, right through to faster boot-up times and menu navigation.

Real-time Tracking Autofocus

Taking the advances in Real-time Tracking autofocus made by the Alpha 1, the Alpha 7 IV delivers a noticeable increase in subject recognition and AF speed. Not only has autofocus speeds and precision been enhanced but also a substantial increase in AF stability and AF controls with object tracking, Human, Animal, and Bird Eye AF tracking, and adjustable parameters for AF Sensitivity and Transition Speed.

Introducing bird eye AF, in movie mode

For the first time in an α series body, the Alpha 7 IV now supports both Animal and Bird Eye AF in video mode. Available in all frame rates and video resolution, Animal and Bird Eye AF in video mode is the next evolution in reliable autofocus when filming movies.

Next-generation Bluetooth® connection

Always stay connected with the Alpha 7 IV. As requested by Sony users, the Bluetooth connection made by the Alpha 7 IV with a mobile device has been drastically improved. Imaging Edge Mobile will remember and stay connected to the Alpha 7 IV, removing the need to repeatedly connect. Additionally, Wi-Fi transfer of images is possible for faster image transfer, unlocking the ability to send RAW images from the camera directly to a mobile device.

Livestream like a professional

Demand for livestreaming capabilities has surged, and to meet this demand the Alpha 7 IV is the most advanced α camera for livestreaming. Livestream options are available both via USB to a computer, or remotely via the Imaging Edge Mobile app1 . The Alpha 7 IV allows livestreaming at 4K 15p with Face and Eye AF, while also supporting features such as Creative Look, Soft Skin, and internal audio capture.

Redesigned Mode Dial for the true Hybrid

Made with the hybrid photographer videographer in mind, the Mode Dial on the Alpha 7 IV has been redesigned in a two-tier design. The bottom dial shifts between Stills, Movie, and S&Q. The top dial changes the mode. This design change allows fluid and fast in-the-field changes between photo and video mode.
