Features

The Sigma 50–120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary

The Sigma 50–120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary is a compact telephoto zoom designed specifically for Canon RF mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. Offering an equivalent focal length of 80–192mm, it provides a versatile range for portraits, events, sports and everyday photography. The constant F2.8 maximum aperture delivers consistent exposure throughout the zoom range, excellent control over depth of field and greater flexibility when working in challenging lighting conditions.

Design and Portability

Designed with portability in mind, the lens measures approximately 9.7 cm in length and weighs just 410 g, making it a practical choice for photographers who want telephoto performance without carrying a large, heavy lens. Sigma's HLA high-response linear actuator autofocus motor provides fast, accurate and quiet focusing, with reliable subject tracking for both still photography and video. Reduced focus breathing also helps maintain consistent framing during video recording.

Optical Construction

The optical construction consists of 18 elements in 13 groups, incorporating one FLD, three SLD and four aspherical elements to minimise aberrations and deliver sharp, detailed images throughout the zoom range. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth background blur, making the lens particularly well suited to portrait photography and subject isolation.

Optical Stabilisation and Durability

Optical Stabilisation powered by Sigma's OS2 algorithm provides up to 6.5 stops of compensation at 50mm and 4.5 stops at 120mm, helping maintain sharper handheld images at longer focal lengths or in lower light. A dust and splash-resistant construction, together with a water and oil-repellent front coating, adds further practicality for regular outdoor use.

Combining a constant F2.8 aperture, responsive autofocus and effective stabilisation in a compact design, the Sigma 50–120mm is an excellent telephoto companion for Canon EOS R7, R10, R50 and R100 users.
