This lens offers exceptional image quality with its f/1.2 aperture, ideal for low-light conditions, and features like dual STM motors for reliable autofocus, weather resistance for confidence in challenging environments, and coatings to reduce lens flare, making it perfect for both photography and videography with smooth bokeh and customisable controls for versatility.
A classic storytelling lens with superior build quality, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S Lens from Nikon is the first of its kind from the brand and promises to be a key player for event and documentary photography as well as for lifestyle shoots and environmental portraits. The addition of this prime lens completes a trio of NIKKOR f/1.2 offerings that is now comprised of 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm focal lengths. When used together, users benefit from a wide-to-telephoto range that's capable of isolating subjects and complementing them with a smooth, flattering bokeh. Additionally, with its impressive f/1.2 maximum aperture, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S shines when capturing in low-light environments.
While a strong lens choice for still photography, this prime is also optimized for video capturing thanks to its clickless control ring, ability to suppress focus breathing, and quiet focusing operation.
Driving AF performance is a multi-focus system that incorporates dual STM motors for increased reliability and accuracy. When working near to subjects, this lens allows focusing as close as 11.8" away.
Adjusting settings quickly as your environment shifts is critical for nailing your shot. The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S features two L-Fn buttons that you can assign to your preferred lens functions. In addition to this is a manual focus ring and a programmable control ring that can be set to your desired function such as aperture adjustment or exposure compensation. This lens's 82mm filter thread is the same as the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S and NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S, providing added convenience when working with lens filters.
Nikon uses three ED lenses and one aspherical ED lens for reducing spherical aberrations and distortion. In total, there are 17 elements in 15 groups as well as a rounded 11-blade diaphragm, which creates unique bokeh and striking image quality.
