This compact telephoto zoom lens is ideal for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras, offering a versatile focal range for various types of photography. The constant F2.8 aperture ensures consistent exposure and excellent low-light performance. Weighing only 390 g, it's highly portable. Fast, quiet autofocus and reduced focus breathing make it perfect for video. Optical stabilisation aids in capturing sharp images, even handheld. Durable design resists dust and splashes, enhancing its suitability for outdoor use.
The Sigma 50–120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary is a compact telephoto zoom designed for Sony E mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. Offering a full-frame equivalent focal length of 75–180mm, it provides a versatile range for portraits, events, sports, travel and everyday photography. The constant F2.8 maximum aperture maintains consistent exposure throughout the zoom range, while offering excellent control over depth of field and greater flexibility when shooting in lower light.
Designed for photographers who value portability, the lens weighs approximately 390 g and measures just 9.7 cm in length. Its compact construction makes it a practical companion for Sony APS-C cameras such as the A6700, A6600 and A6400. Sigma's HLA high-response linear actuator autofocus motor delivers fast, precise and quiet focusing, making it suitable for both still photography and video. Reduced focus breathing also helps maintain consistent framing during focus adjustments when filming.
The optical construction incorporates 18 elements in 13 groups, including one FLD, three SLD and four aspherical elements to minimise optical aberrations and maintain sharpness throughout the zoom range. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth background blur, particularly useful for portrait photography and subject isolation.
Sigma's optical stabilisation system, powered by the OS2 algorithm, provides up to 6.5 stops of compensation at 50mm and 4.5 stops at 120mm, helping photographers achieve sharper handheld images when working at longer focal lengths or in challenging lighting conditions. Dust and splash-resistant construction, together with a water and oil-repellent front element coating, adds further practicality for outdoor photography.
Combining a constant F2.8 aperture, responsive autofocus and effective optical stabilisation in a lightweight design, the Sigma 50–120mm offers a versatile telephoto solution for Sony APS-C photographers.
